Cute little device on memory card Accessory

My macbook doesn't always recognize this when I first plug it in (not sure if it's the device or my macbook). I've only used this to read SD cards and it works great.

    Great bang for your buck.

I've had it for about two months now with no problems. I was surprised that Apple doesn't make a memory card reader for the new 2016 Macbook Pro yet. I'm now glad they don't because I'd mindlessly buy it! Instead, I got this little guy that works flawlessly for a fraction of the cost. Fits comfortably on my Macbook Pro.

Works great on my Android. but you have to insert the card before you put it in my phone, otherwise it won't recognize the card (it could be a problem with the program that reads it).

    Excellent USB-C card reader

Excellent card reader for USB Type-C ports. I use it to read video from dashcam on LG V20 phone with Type-C data/- Charge to read Port.Top level, typical of Plugable, and the connections are reliable. I tested the throughput on my PC and while it's not USB-C Gen 2, it's certainly faster than other USB 3.0 card readers I've used. I am very happy with this purchase and will continue to shop with Plugable as they always seem to have quality products and great support. I hope you find this brief…

Works as expected: Memory card accessory

This is a good USB-C card reader, fast and reliable. Connected to my Mac Mini, I just pop in my cards and it reads them quickly and without fuss. I like it.

Works on my 2017 MacBook Pro

I bought a MacBook Pro in March 2017. It has four USB-C ports but no SD card slot like my latest MacBook Pro. I use a DSLR to take pictures for a blog I write for and didn't want to mess around with cable adapters to connect the camera to my computer, so I went with this card reader (with USB-C connector) instead . I only use the SD card slot. This works with my computer. It fits the port snugly, is lightweight and the cable isn't very long so it stays pretty close to your computer on the desk…

    • Works great for me
    Cons
    • No instructions

    Does not support protected mode.

My camera is very sensitive to various files on the SD card. I always like to use the "protected" mode on the SD card (which signals that the system cannot modify the contents of the card) when I connect it to anything other than the camera, as this prevents hidden Android and OSX files are created. This device does not respect this and my process now has to involve reformatting the card every time I insert it into the device.

    Reliable limited accessories

I trust Plugable for USB accessories because they are not an anonymous importer. The website contains detailed specifications for each product and compatibility information. I'm happy with the read and write speeds of this state-of-the-art flash card reader, which comes in both versions (USB-C for my MacBook). and original (USB-A, for my Raspberry Pi boards). Correction August 5, 2020: Unfortunately, the SD and MicroSD card slots are not independent in this reader. Only one or the other works…

    Superb USB-C Card Reader

Excellent card reader for USB Type-C ports. I use it to read video from a dash cam to an LG V20 phone with a Type-C data/charge port. Pluggable and the connections are solid . I tested the throughput on my PC and while it's not USB-C Gen 2, it's certainly faster than other USB 3.0 card readers I've used. I am very happy with this purchase and will continue to shop with Plugable as they always seem to have quality products and great support. I hope you find this brief overview helpful. If yes…

    Pros
    • IMPORTANT NOTE: Supported by default on Mac, Linux and Windows desktop or portable systems. However, mobile platforms are unlikely to be supported as most Android devices with USB-C ports *NOT* support adding to mass storage devices (this feature requires rooting/jailbreak). Before purchasing, check with your device manufacturer to see if you can add a storage device through the USB-C port. Not compatible with iOS
