Works on some devices, not others

I bought this product to speed up the transfer of files, mainly photos and videos. It originally installed with built-in drivers in Win 7 Pro 64-bit but didn't work with a number of my external hard drives. I've had errors ranging from "You need to format the drive" to the external drive never being recognized. I tried updating the drivers by downloading the package from startech. This is where the problems started, the drivers were not installed (at least as described in the technical…

Works perfectly! suitable for I/O cards

packaging/appearance/assembly: I chose this brand/model although it was a bit more expensive due to the brand. I don't know about StarTech, but I found that they provide drivers online and also include a CD, which was a plus, especially since I lose my CDs a lot. This works wonderfully with USB 3.0. There are a few things to note: If you have USB 3.0 with external power, you don't need to use a cable (my case). If you have a portable external hard drive, you will need to use the included USB…

Easy install and works great

I have ordered two of these for two Win7 thinkpads. The drivers were installed on the first try (albeit with an error message - apparently a false alarm). I can't get a precise idea of how close the actual USB 3.0 transfer speed is. Yes, this card stands out and increases footprint. So far I haven't had to use an external power supply (external WD Passport USB 3.0 2TB drives will only work with what the card ports provide). Yes, it's a little loose in the full-size card slot and I don't have…

Works great in Lenovo L520 ExpressCard slot

I installed this in the Expresscard slot of a Lenovo ThinkPad L520 with Win 10 Pro. When I first plugged it in, it quickly recognized USB 2.0 and 3.0 flash drives and a USB memory card reader, but it didn't recognize my 18 MP AmScope USB 3.0 microscope camera. However, once I downloaded the software from the CD that came with the ExpressCard, it immediately recognized the camera, which then worked great. I've been transferring some data to and from flash drives at speeds ranging from 30 to 105…
