Buyer warning! in hard disk housings

Customer Attention! I installed two new 2TB drives in a RAID 1 configuration and formatted and copied 800GB of data onto the drives. A week later, a message appeared on my screen saying the discs were unreadable and needed to be formatted. Nothing else worked so I had to format and lost all my data! Data for more than 10 years! All gone! This should be a safe way to store data across 2 drives. But the box ruined the wheels. So all data was lost. I was forced to format and remove the drives…

Almost perfect and supports 6TB drives

The good news is that I bought two of these together with 4 x 6TB drives and they are very easy and quick to install, set up and format were. So you can consider 6TB drives as supported. The DIP switch configuration actually works, unlike many similar devices where disk management software ignores it. The trays secure the drives without screws, which also contributes to a quick and easy installation. Windows recognizes the combo device when you plug it in, unlike some devices that require you…

Quiet, fast - so far so good, but not with a 15ft USB 3.0 cable

This case has allowed me to add 4TB of fast, quiet, cooled storage to my desktop (imac) at a modest cost and add minimal level noise. I need storage capacity because my photo library doesn't fit on imac's internal SSD. I chose two 2TB WD-RE4-GP drives because they were cheap and big enough, and maybe RE4s are a bit more reliable than consumer drives - we'll see. I measured throughput using Blackmagicdesign's "Disk Speed Test" in the default configuration. When configured as 2 separate drives, I

This item works great for the price!

There is little information about this device on the internet. In addition, there are very few brands that supply empty suitcases. I have used and trust Tripp Lite power products for years without incident, so I hope they continue to deliver the same quality of their drive enclosures. I'm using this with a 2012 Mac Mini set up as a server. I'm using two new Hitachi enterprise quality hard drives, each 3TB. SETUPInstallation was easy, the instructions are suitable for those who are more…

Then connects randomly

The drive connects first and then disconnects from the computer within about 60 minutes whether it's idle or in the middle of a transfer. Revain thought we just had a bad unit and sent us a replacement, but it does the same thing. Our other RAID array (from another manufacturer) does not show this behavior and we have searched the forums and OS settings for a solution. We tried this on both an iMac running OSX El Capitan and a Macbook Air running OSX Sierra with Tripp-Lite in Normal/JBOD mode…

  • Expensive but decent

Total garbage. Don't waste your time and money

Complete scrap. Windows7 is not formatted when used as Raid1. Device Manager sees the device and Raid1 and creates a partition, but cannot format the drive. Using WD Red drives tested with WD DataLifeguard software. Tried 2 computers with the same results. Tripp Lite tech support doesn't know anything about this product and had to put my search on hold. When he came back he said it "might" work if it was the only device plugged into my computer. Using WD Red drives. I do troubleshooting myself.
