ViewSonic VA951S Enhanced Viewing Monitor: Crystal-Clear 19" Display, Eco Mode, 1280X1024P Review

I had to replace my old square ViewSonic monitor with a new one. The resolution is great and the price is great. Love it. Thanks for attention.

This product is the size I need, but it's difficult to determine the setting for use as a secondary monitor, not the instructions that came with this product.

I use it alongside my 27" ViewSonic widescreen monitor. When writing articles, I can search the web on my 19" monitor and work on two full-page documents on my widescreen monitor.

The color quality of this screen exceeds all my expectations. This product has the ability to easily change settings on the screen. Perhaps my favorite feature of this screen is the automatic shutdown. When the screen is not reading data from the cable, it will automatically go into sleep mode where the screen will turn off. This is very convenient as I don't have to figure out which keys to press.

This monitor is niche, but when set up correctly it can be great, offering something others don't, a 5:4 aspect ratio. The monitor has excellent contrast and brightness settings and nobody seems to mention it Six modes are available: StandardGameMovieWebTextAnd mono. Buyers beware: the unit doesn't look very solid, once installed it won't detach from the mount as stated by the manufacturer (even the tech support rep had trouble figuring out how to disassemble the unit) and when You want to avoid exposure to radiation, this model is not for you. Before purchasing, ViewSonic tech support assured me that this product "should" emit less EMI than our current monitor because it has an LED backlight and is mercury free. I like this LCD monitor because it's a standard screen, not a widescreen. The display itself is solid and colors are vibrant.

One star for the terrible way the user has to adjust the brightness/contrast. There are four buttons in the bottom right corner of the screen that cannot be felt or seen, but must be used to adjust brightness/blue light/contrast. The two buttons are "arrows" that move up and down the settings page, which may or may not appear on the screen. Great monitor, great picture, well placed buttons. Very satisfied, except for an annoying message box from View Sonic that the desired resolution is not the maximum. There's a checkbox to turn off the notification, but it still shows up when the PC boots up. Never had this trouble with other monitors.

No problem with the setting. Resolution and colors are excellent. I also like the aspect ratio. The stand is a bit flimsy (and only tilts), but that's to be expected for the price.

This monitor works entirely from a computer. Independent adjustment is not possible. The size was just right for my work place, but I don't play games. My only gripe is that the screen tilts forward, so I put a 1/2 inch book underneath it to make it look bigger.

It replaced a 15 year old LCD monitor that was razor sharp with superb color accuracy. As other reviewers have pointed out, there are no instructions in the box and what you can find online is vague, barely covering the basics. Is there some limited picture adjustment done on the monitor itself, with those four little black knobs that are completely invisible in the black frame unless you shine a flashlight on them? For real? Could you make them silver or protrude from the bottom so you can see
