Cheaper than Mist Aftermarket filters

I bought these for my 2017 legacy. I have obsessive compulsive disorder about my cars. I always worry that the dealer will try to void my warranty because I did something that doesn't meet Subaru's specs. This means that with the exception of oil (Mobil 1 Full Synthetic), I only use Subaru filters and fluids. These filters are factory replacements for my legacy. They even come with a crimp washer for the drain plug. I will buy more when I'm done.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Protection

Save me the trip to the dealer.

Care should be taken when selecting an oil filter for new vehicles using 0w20 oil. The bypass valve operates at a different pressure drop and maintains the higher oil pressure, which is critical for thinner oil. I'm not sure how aftermarket filters fit this, especially seeing the same filters from aftermarket suppliers on old and new engines. They really aren't any cheaper than what my dealer is asking for, but he's 50 miles away so it's more of a convenience for me.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Weight

If you read reviews of non-OEM oil filters you will find that some brands, even well known ones, skimp on things essential to the filters are functioning. engine lubrication system. Metal parts versus plastic or paper parts, the function of the drain check valve, and even the reliability of the o-ring/seal make me prefer OEM oil filters. I also think buying from Revain is the best way to go as there are sellers who give discounts and make DIY oil changes even more economical. BMW OEM filters…

Cons
