Perfect size for my project and fits on the dashboard. It may seem too small to some, but it turned out to be just right for me. The button is slightly raised due to the lock and closes flush when pressed. I wired it up so that the LED ring only lights up when the button is in the on position. Works great so far.

Favorite 12mm button. Through trial and error, the wiring worked as intended. The button backlights aren't too bright, which I really like, as some of the switches have insanely bright backlights that are annoying. I bought these 12mm knobs and 16mm knobs and found the 12mm knobs to be easier to use. I ordered these for use in my boat but did not install them due to the mistake of ordering instant contact when I needed permanent action switches. I chose the switches because they were described as fairly reliable and what I got was exactly as described. At 12mm the button is a bit tricky to use and I would recommend a button with a raised head for this size. I bought a serviced 16mm contact switch, it's easier to use and well built.
