Saved our couch countless times over the past year and three months that we have had it. Definitely stops any liquid or grease from passing through! It started to tear a little after about three months. Now it is almost in three pieces. The bottom and back and the two arm covers. It came apart at all the seams. It seems they were not sewn with strong enough thread. So basically it only lasted a year and three months. That is our only complaint. We may try a different brand now.

I don't have dogs or kids, but I often have meals on my beautiful sofa so I need to keep it covered. This cover is really the nicest one I've ever had. It arrived quickly, and came out of the package smelling fresh, unlike some things delivered that come out smelling like gasoline or some other chemical. I didn't even have to rinse it out. It came with straps, which I threw away, because I don't need or use or want straps on my sofa. The cover has kept it's place without the ugly straps so far.

I gave it a 4 and not a 5 because the seam ripped shortly after I started using it. I did sew it (and I hate to sew).It is definitely waterproof and even my crappy sewing job doesn't detract from that and the repair isn't too noticeable since it was a seam.
