Good replacement for many newer Delta faucets - beware of fragile o-ring

Fits many newer Delta faucets so I liked that it fits and works. I didn't like buying the whole aerator to replace a weak o-ring. The o-ring that seals the aerator in the faucet is the cheapest and thinnest piece of polymer I've seen and it will fail long before the aerator fails. Be sure to lightly lubricate the O-ring with silicone grease before installation to prevent cracking and do not overtighten.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • There are new competitors

Bad o-ring on faucet parts

Thanks to JL for the 2 year old feedback with the tip about using silicone on the o-ring. The RP51345 aerator itself fits perfectly, but the o-ring was so loose that it pushed out of the guide when reaching the faucet neck. This stretched the o-ring enough to keep it off track, and no amount of convincing with a toothpick could get it into the faucet. So now I have two perfectly working aerators and a useless o-ring. It was twelve dollars for the aerator and another ten for the silicone can. At

Could be better for rough plumbing

This could be a better design. A wrench works well for screwing the aerator in and out, but it's not easy to align and keep it in place while turning. In addition, the service life of the key leaves a lot to be desired. The reason I bought this was to get a spare key whose teeth would deteriorate with use. This is normal on an initial installation, but if a slight buildup of minerals builds up, the aerator will become more difficult to unscrew and teeth will snap or break. I made a metal keyโ€ฆ

Faucet aerator failure Details

This was my third attempt to find a suitable aerator for my sink. It was too big and the other two were too small. I ended up going to the local Home Depot and looking at all aspects. Yes, I am guilty of removing the aerator from the display model and taking it home for use. Notice to Moen, Delta and all aerator manufacturers. Why can't you stamp a letter or number on the aerator? Does it match as long as the number or letter matches? I spent almost a month trying to find the right aerator andโ€ฆ

Be sure to ask for aerator size when ordering

Like many others, I have a Delta Lahara sink faucet. I went to Menards and Lowes who only had a large (red) aerator key. At first I thought it was the right size (for my Delta kitchen sink) but unfortunately it's too big for the smaller aerator on the bathroom sinks. I noticed very little flow in the sink despite fresh stems and valve seals, so I figured it must be the aerator and turns out to be exactly what it was. The result of years of hard water. Finally found the right key!

Delta RP51345 works great with my Delta Leland 2575LF-RMBPU bathroom faucets (I have 3 of them). I spent a small fortune finding the right wrench for my Delta bathroom faucets. A Delta representative cannot help you if you do not know the exact faucet model. Eventually I went online and looked at each and every 4 inch center faucet and found the exact bathroom model. I then looked up the aerator part number (it's listed in the faucet specs) on the printed drawing of each part of the faucetโ€ฆ
