Unwanted Office Electronics

I bought 3 of these scanners because they got such good reviews. I can only describe the product as rubbish. To try and use it, I had to "tweak" the scanner by unplugging and plugging it back in before use and sometimes during use because it would freeze. In addition, the sound card had to be removed from the computer. Help from Microtek did not help, and they themselves did not know how to deal with problems. the programs he brought would be very helpful. I only know this because I used a…

Is one star the minimum?

This is the most disappointing Revain purchase I have ever made. But since I can't return it and look for another one, I'm sticking with it until I give up and buy a brand new one. This POS system comes with a version of Omnipage which according to the poor documentation translated into Taiwanese needs to be installed in safe mode to avoid system crash. It can be used from within Photoshop when connected as a USB scanner, but if you do so none of the included software will be able to find the…

Good Scanner for the Price

Microtek Scanmaker V6upl is a good scanner with an affordable price. It scans photos with good color reproduction and detail. PhotoImact software (included) is great photo editing software. Forget Adobe Photo Deluxe 2 (also included). The OCR is above average when using Textbridge 9, but doesn't cost much (usually) when using the limited OCR software that comes with it. The downsides are that it takes up a lot of desk space (but can scan 8 1/2 x 14 documents) and the included transparency…

One of my worst experiences

I bought a new scanner. After installation I was able to do 2 scans and then the scanner (or software) froze and my computer couldn't find it. I emailed tech support and followed all the instructions and the result was always the same. They then sent an email asking them to call tech support. I called (toll, not 800#) and it took 10 minutes. b4 someone responded and said I should be referred to an extended advisory group. After I was transferred, I was detained for an hour. b4 I gave up. The…
