Inexpensive, good quality

chose this product based on reviews and a fair price. I am not disappointed, after several months of operation I do not find any flaws, it rotates easily and accurately. After installing it in the tailstock, I successfully tested it to make sure it was properly aligned and rotated properly in the center.

Pros
  • Holds work with 1/8" (.3175 cm) to 1-1/8" (2.8575 cm) holes
Cons
  • Available in black only

Requires Loctite to hold together

Suitable for several special turning projects. It disassembles and you will need Loctite to keep the tip from unwinding during use. I used red for the threads and haven't had any problems since. Also, be careful if you've drilled a deep hole in your bowl as this can cause a crack if you work your way down before removing the tailstock. Good price!

Pros
  • 60 degree tip and precision ball bearings
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

Works fine until it works.

Needed a 60 degree center and this seemed like a good choice based on reviews. For the first few months it was just a good choice. It worked well, especially with my pin mandrels, but after about 7 months I noticed that it wouldn't catch when inserted into the work piece, and then I noticed that the mandrel slips out, and even when I screwed it back in . into a cone, it comes right back out. In the end I used a drop of Loctite to fix the threaded ring. It still works fine with the "repair" but…

Pros
  • Ideal for lathe mandrels
Cons
  • Can't remember
