Description of 🐠 Seachem Reef Kalkwasser 500g: Essential Calcium Supplement for a Thriving Reef Aquarium Environment

PURE: Reef Kalkwasser is a pure calcium hydroxide with unmatched purity and solubility characteristics. MAINTAIN: Calcium hydroxide is used to prepare limewater (kalkwasser) solutions that will maintain calcium concentrations at natural sea water levels. Kalkwasser solutions maintain calcium directly and carbonate alkalinity indirectly. CAPACITY: Reef Kalkwasser’s capacity to perform these functions is dependent on evaporation rate and CO2 concentration. USE: If evaporation rate and CO2 concentration are insufficient you can provide additional calcium with Seachem’s Reef Advantage Calcium, Reef Complete, or Reef Calcium, and carbonate alkalinity with Reef Builder or Reef Carbonate. DIRECTIONS: Never add this product directly to the tank. Add 3g (1 teaspoon) to 4L (1 US gallon) of water and mix to dissolve. If using pure water, a fully saturated solution is prepared by adding 6g (2 teaspoons) to 4L (1 US gallon). Drip solution into tank. Beware of overdose and use only what is needed to maintain desired calcium level.

This product provides instant results so use caution with dosage. It is highly recommended to use half the recommended dose!

Good quality Kalkwasser

Mixes well, just add to a homemade Kalkwasser dripper. I will edit my review in the future and let you know if my corals improve :)

ideal for dosing systems

Getting the right dose isn't easy. much better when used with a dosing system. I have found that my calcium levels are fairly stable at 4 plus when doing weekly water changes. I use more salt but leave out all the additives. Today's salt is much better than it used to be.

MIXING IS DIFFICULT. YOU MUST MIX IT ALL.

MIXING IS DIFFICULT. MIX IT FOR ALMOST A DAY UNTIL THE WATER IS CLEAR AND ONLY USE CLEAR WATER WHILE THE POWDER IS AT THE BOTTOM. WATER NEVER PURIFIES THERE'S SOMETHING ON THE WATER WATER. 2 STARS ONLY BECAUSE IT INCREASES CALCIUM AND PH LIKE DESCRIPTION.

This worked pretty well, but when I switched to sps I decided part 2 would be the best choice. But in general he kept my water parameters.

Goes a long way in aquarium water treatment

Maybe a 2 gallon tablespoon. This container is good for hundreds of gallons. I use it as a PH buffer when changing the water. Your tank's PH is the PH of your tap water, so I make sure to add water that is at least a low to medium water level of 8. I add a cup of clear lime water per gallon or 2 water changes. You can also check the salinity at the same time and just pour everything into the tank. You won't damage anything.

Not the best result in aquarium water treatment

I was planning to use this in my auto-suggest. I returned this product after learning that the sediment does not settle making the water very milky. As the autotop added lime water to my tank, the tank gradually became cloudier as the autotop did its job of topping up water throughout the day. Instead, I've opted for liquid supplement dosing as it causes more pain than it's worth for me.
