Type of review

Love this player. Sounds as good or even better than an MD or CD. I'm surprised. Still listening to the first battery and a lot of cassettes. I hear sound details that other digital formats don't have, similar to when we all switched from cassette to CD. It's crazy, but old analog cassettes sound better and are easier to listen to in many cases. That was written a very long time ago! In truth, the player is great for exactly what it is!

Purchased Refurbished

I bought a used WM-FS555 S2 Sports Walkman for about $50 only to return it as the band function didn't work. I found that the WM-FS222 S2 was on sale in refurbished condition for around $40, so I decided to buy it. The restored model was flawless. All functions work. It arrived in a Sony factory box marked 'Refurbished'. In the box were new headphones, a user manual and a 90-day guarantee. Not for those who need high quality sound

This Sony portable cassette player is well thought out and built to last. Unfortunately, the sound quality leaves a lot to be desired. Initially I was unhappy with the headphones which provided somewhat thin and "tinny" music reproduction which I spent three weeks testing this player (which I ended up returning for credit).
