Works well and outperforms cable/satellite with proper setup

First cable cutter disclaimer I wish so much this product actually worked so my four stars may be a bit overpriced. Also, I don't really like writing reviews, but since AirTV has so much potential for us cord cutters, I wanted to share my recent experience with it. I use it in combination with Sling TV, two different types. Roku devices and the newer Netgear 56 wireless router. Setup. The product was very easy to set up and link to our existing Roku Sling account. I hooked it up to an antenna…

60% of the time it works every time!

Can't decide. the best part of AirTV is when you sit down to watch your favorite live show, only to find that AirTV has inexplicably lost connection again, requiring a "hard reset" of the device? Or maybe you can't record OTA shows, so if you spend 15 minutes restarting your device and your show is 30 minutes long, you only have to watch the last half of your show? This is basically a time saver! Half-finished, poorly constructed, not quite ready for prime time, expensive, time-saver. Save…

AirTV itself is a pretty neat gadget. As of January 2019, it has two different and incompatible modes, confusing due to overlapping names: - Use it (AirTV Gadget) with the AirTV app (which you install on your smartphone or TV box). With it, you can receive local TV channels wirelessly and watch them live on various devices in your home, including iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Fire TV, Rokus, Android phones and tablets. This mode is free (you need to create an AirTV account, but it's free). The AirTV…

Works perfectly! on tv and video

Not sure why there are so many negative comments, this thing works perfect for me. Long story short, I'm sick of paying for an NFL Sunday ticket to see my team play (I'm out of the market). Sent the box to my parents who are looking for a team and now I can stream any local streams they get to their OTA HD antenna. An added bonus is the ability to return to local news from there at any time. There is a slight delay when you first connect, but this usually goes away after about half a minute, as

What a mess in TV and video

Initial setup went well, I updated firmware, found channels, integrated with SlingTV. After that, however, it was completely unreliable. Constant errors on the TV screen. Fallen from the web. I've had to reset it and start over multiple times and it was still acting as weak as it could be. This product is not ready for public use. It requires a lot more research and development from a manufacturer before releasing this as a work item to the general public, which is not the case. Don't waste…

    No HTML5 based browsing.

This device works as advertised. Installation was quick, the remote display works well. Now for the cons of this product. No fixed IP address can be determined for this device. You'll need to give it a static IP address via DHCP if you want to know where it's located. This module doesn't give you the ability to only work locally and opens holes in your firewall that they don't document, it's basically a black box that you have to trust, it's not a security risk. You're forced to use the SLING…

Over 30 OTA channels are built into the Sling TV app.

I installed an omnidirectional antenna in the attic and checked the signal on the TV before connecting the AirTV. The signal was good. Connecting the AirTV to my wireless network was hassle-free. Connecting to the Sling app on both of my TVs was more problematic as the Sling TV apps on my TVs couldn't be used to connect. Instead, I had to use the Sling app on my Android phone to find and install channels. Then the Sling apps on my two TVs connected to AirTV. However, I had to restart my FireTV…

    Mainly suitable for DVR

I bought this to record local TV and play it on my TV and phone when I'm not at home. I love that you don't need a subscription to get TV data and it's pretty easy to flip through the channel guide to record. Once the footage is recorded, the interface is easy to view and uninstall programs. It would be nice if fast forward had some preview, but jumping about 30 seconds into the future works well enough. When everything works, it's great. Sometimes the app crashes and you have to restart it to…
