Does exactly what it says on the tin

I don't understand why anyone would have problems with this product. You take it out of the box, read the simple and concise instructions, plug in the tape and connect it to the VCR. bam! Listed! To avoid problems, I made sure that the tape was tightly coiled both alone and once in the adapter. I slowly pushed the sliding door open, making sure the tape was pulled properly. Two of my tapes were damaged prior to using the product and the adapter was still able to accept them and play them on my…

DO NOT SPEND MONEY

I strongly advise you NOT to purchase this product. I read many reviews before purchasing this item, but I have convinced myself that people who are dissatisfied with this item simply have no idea how to take proper care of it. So I bought the item with the full expectation that I would follow the advice of the reviewers that I read were successful. I even ordered 2 just in case I did something horribly wrong and accidentally broke the cartridge. smart right? NOT CORRECT! I received the things,

Saved by C. Family Reunion

I was so scared because of the other reviews but I really didn't have a choice. We had some old family videos that we needed to watch and didn't have much time to convert them. The only option was to buy this thing and use old cassettes. After reading horror stories, I noticed a pattern. Everyone complained that they had problems with the foil coming loose and then getting stuck in the machine. I found this to be entirely correct and entirely avoidable. Those old enough to remember the tapes…

Maxell Adapters: Where VHS-C Cassettes Die.

Another vote for terrible. I thought I would take a chance with this adapter because I figured some of the bad reviews might be down to user error or defective products. no It was very easy to insert the VHS-C cassette into the adapter. The design of the adapter was really good. After I loaded the VHS-C tape, I tightened the tape as instructed (twisted the white star on the back of the adapter with my comically big thumb) so it was nice and comfortable when I loaded it into the VCR. He played…

Worked great for me!

The Markm review pretty much sums it up. I'm really surprised that anyone can screw things up. First open the housing door completely. Then insert the tape, making sure the pins inside are properly seated in your smaller cartridge (make sure the flap on the smaller tape side is fully flipped up). If done correctly, closing the door will cause these racks to pull the tape from the smaller cartridge toward the larger edge of the adapter. Do not move the adapter sliding door too quickly - be…

There were some problems

This is probably one of the easiest products you can buy - it either works or it doesn't. Except for me on this particular device, that somehow wasn't the case. It actually did the job of letting me pop in a very old VHS-C cassette and play it back on my Panasonic combo DVD/VHS recorder. It was recorded great on DVD which was the main reason for buying it. BUT it gave me fits trying to get it out of the car once it was done! It was certainly an unexpected mistake that at one point made me so…

Walked out of the box.

This review is one of two (probably). I made a big mistake with my timing and when I tried to use this converter the left hand roller that ejects the tape is missing and there is an obvious broken piece that moves but does nothing. Thus, the tape is only pushed out from the right side. The box the adapter came in was completely sealed and there are no casters or parts anywhere. and paid $0.80 more than the first one I ordered and paid an extra $3.99 to have it here tomorrow. Revain wouldn't…

Important Notes in this Review

I don't usually write reviews, although I read many of them and find them useful. So I'm only writing this because I read the bad reviews on this product and almost bought more expensive ones; but decided to stop there to save money. I was concerned that in order to save a few bucks I risked damaging my cassette or VCR based on comments in another review. I'm pretty sure the reason they had problems was because they weren't using it properly. The instructions are pretty bad and if you don't use
