🔪 Tandy Leather Craftool Strap Cutting Tool 3080-00 Review

excellent quality from tandy. really easy and pleasant to use. You can easily cut belts without a table or ruler. Bought with a set of blades. old-fashioned tool - you thought there were plastic and metal equivalents by now. Resizing is very easy and the maximum skin thickness is about 1/4 what I've tried so far.

I love this tool. It makes it so easy to cut long pieces of leather for my bracelets, which "cuts down" the prep time and allows me to dive into the fun part of designing and crafting faster. I've never used anything like this before so it took me a bit of fiddling to figure out how the blade adjustment and replacement works, but the simple design made it easy to understand.

The image in the addon looks like a Tandy Leather product and the addon says so, but the product I received is not the product. Clips on blade holders and signatures on the handle are missing. I haven't used it yet because one of the laser cut slots isn't cut all the way through and the other goes through the side. I think I can fix it and try to use it, but I wouldn't buy it again.

Not sure how it's supposed to work without a blade. And I don't know what that little speck of metal encased in plastic is (see photo). Basically useless. However, I later bought a set of spare blades because I have yet to cut the straps and found there was a blade; It broke before I received the item. This is by far my favorite leather instrument. Before purchasing, I laid out the leather, measured each strap, and cut it out with a utility knife and long ruler. It's much faster and more consistent. I've used it in leathers from 5 to 13 ounces, mainly chrome tanned with different finishes for different characters from soft to hard. I am new to leatherworking and wanted to cut a strip of leather to make a belt. I was so stupid I made a line in the skin to guide my cut ON THE WRONG SIDE of the skin. So I had to point the handle of the device away from me. I was a little nervous before starting as it required squeezing rather than pulling the skin.
