In April 2013, F2Pool started operating on the Bitcoin network; although, in its beginnings, it was known as Discuss Fish. This name was the Chinese to English translation of the firm they used, and still use, at the coinbase of the mining blocks.
Although its main base is in Beijing, China, F2Pool also has servers in other cities of the Asian giant, as well as in the United States. At the end of 2014 and during 2015, this pool managed to be the one with the highest processing power in Bitcoin, averaging 30% of the total hash rate of the network.
Currently, although it has been surpassed in statistics by BTCom and AntPool, F2Pool contributes 11.8% of the mining power in the network of the original cryptocurrency (7.4 EH / s). In addition, so far, this is the pool that has added the most blocks to the Bitcoin chain, with a record of 46,947 blocks, and growing.
