A WaPo guy left the only good newspaper left in his nation to do this project. It has to be at least useful. It seems useful. Surely not a speculative issue, but I do appreciate the concept of authorship establishment and being able to prove out your work. Po.et sounds nice in the ears, but the value proposition electronically may not be there in the current environment.

Pros
  • ETH shaped object. They use the term "fake news" in the FAQs, so at least we know they're not asleep. Proof of Existance Two point Oh. Po.et is essentiall plugging the value of proof of work, but using the concept of people tucking their ( art, writing, contracts, images, whatever) into blockchain, which gives it both an immutable timestamp so to speak, as well as definitive authorship. Plagiarizing for college may not be as easily done as in the past 200 years. One of the most useful functions I can see so far is the ability to access your already created material from WordPress, Joomla, and Drupal. Not having to house and recover data from multiple sources is a godsend.
Cons
  • In theory, writing down what day it is signing your name has been acceptable as proof for a hundred years or so. Not sure there is a need yet for a PoE only coin / token. There might be awards some day for "breaking" a story, but it seems these days a story doesn't have to be 1- true, 2 - sourced, 3 - fact checked, and as far as I know, there is not a financial bounty for being first like their might have been in the 30s and 40s when you had a morning and evening paper because TV didn't exist. So being first on Po.et about something may not have the value some might ascribe to it.
