Review on Zilliqa by Fanuel PORPORTY

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Zilliqa is a broadband public blockchain. It processes thousands of transactions per second.

Zilliqa is a blockchain platform that focuses on solving the problem of scaling on public blockchains. With the Zilliqa network, the number of transactions increases at a linear rate up to the number of nodes.
This means that as the number of nodes increases, its ability to process a high volume of transactions will also increase. Zilliqa has already run a success test on their network, where they were able to complete 1,200 transactions per second with only 2,400 nodes.
Zilliqa is also the first blockchain to successfully integrate sharding into a public blockchain. This concept is extremely useful for improving scalability, bandwidth and performance in blockchains. Sharding, in fact, divides the nodes into "shards" which can then carry out micro-transactions in each block of the block chain.
In addition, Zilliqa claims to be more energy efficient for mining. They also plan to implement apps in their platform in the future.

Pros
  • Zilliqa has a token for its ecosystem. Similar to other App platforms like Ethereum or NEO, the ZIL token is used as an incentive for mining, gas for the execution of contracts and an offer for payment of transaction costs.
  • The Zilliqa platform has the ability to adapt to high transaction rates, a thousand times the Ethereum transaction rates. The Zilliqa core sharding divides the mining network into various small fragments, each capable of processing transactions in parallel.
Cons
  • In order to make functional programming more standardized and secure, the Zilliqa team has developed a new programming language called Scilla.
  • There are broadcast problems if the network becomes very large (more than a million nodes). Yet 1 million knots is an upper limit that ZILLIQA is far from reaching. As of this writing, Bitcoin has approximately 11,000 nodes in operation. Ethereum, the largest network of complete nodes, has nearly 25,000.
