Description of ๐Ÿป 4 Pack Serial Wombat 4B - I2C Smart I/O Expander with A/D Converter: Drive Servos, Switches, Quadrature Encoders, and UART/I2C Bridge - I2C Compatible with Arduino

Easily add a few more I/O or A/D channels to your project through I2C. Do complex tasks with a few simple calls to the API available for download through the IDE Library Manager. Many support videos and extensive documentation available online. 3 Input/Output and 1 Input Only pin on each chip. Each pin can be assigned a specific function such as Servo, Quadrature Encoder, A/D conversion, UART Bridge. Use all 4 chips together, or in 4 different projects. 100nF capacitors included. Uncut decal strip with 8 decals included. Upgradable Open Source Firmware available on GitHub.

Useful chips!

Very useful little IC for general repairs. It's very handy to offload the main processor based on a digital pulse counter interrupt or quickly add a few A/D channels to something analog like the ESP8266.

Pros
  • Rugged construction
Cons
  • Miscellaneous Miscellaneous

Solved my problems with Wemos with E-Paper display

I am building a project with Wemos and an E-Paper display. Not enough gpio after connecting the display (epapers spi interface used 6). I came across a wombat and it was just what I needed. E-Paper also takes a relatively long time to update, making it difficult to eliminate key bounce. Wombat solved this problem and I look forward to using its other features in future projects.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Minor problems

Easy to Use!: Single Board Computer

These ICs are everything they advertise. I am planning to use 4 of these for an IoT application where my ESP32 Nodemcu board needs to communicate with 4 RFID modules. Since ESP doesn't have 4 serial ports and RFID modules don't support addresses, these serial wombats were the perfect solution. If you are familiar with i2c and uart in Arduino you can get them up and running in less than 30 minutes. It is clear that the manufacturer is enthusiastic about its project and has responded to supportโ€ฆ

Pros
  • It's packed
Cons
  • Looks

Clean and Compact Best Computer and Accessories

Easy to use. If you have experience with I/O expanders and want something more compact then this is for you. Tried with arduino uno p3. I have to try seeeduino xiao but I'm sure it should work.

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • Without automatic

Serial Wombat is a brilliant product.

Serial wombat is MUCH BIGGER than an I2C expander. As soon as I read about the Wombat I developed four of them into a board that I designed to provide IoT pool automation (circulation, heating, pool chemistry) based on the DFRobot WiDo Arduino. I got four of these and installed them in the sockets on the board. It then took me several hours to use the libraries to place 6 LEDs, 6 buttons, two hall effect flow sensors, two rotary encoders, two analog chemical sensors and four tri-state jumpers -

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • New competitors are here
