Review on ASUS PA278QV: Premium DisplayPort Monitor with Anti Glare, Adjustable 2560X1440P Resolution, 75Hz Refresh Rate, Blue Light Filter, Built-In Speakers, and HDMI Support by Kenneth Alvarez

UPDATE 05-08-2021 First of all, I apologize that the original review was NOT concise, my fault. Second, I apologize to Asus for my mistake. I missed an important "feature" in their idiotic UI on this monitor. Holding down the menu button (the unlabeled button next to the power button) for five seconds will LOCK ALL buttons, including the power button, rendering them inoperable. I don't know why this is a feature. I only knew this from a cryptic message when I held down the power button stating that the keys were locked. I was then able to find a solution and unlock the buttons by holding the menu button for 5 seconds again. I give credit to Asus Technical Support. I called and got a very polite and knowledgeable technician almost immediately. However, he couldn't suggest the issue with the disabled buttons, which was the whole problem. To his credit, he was willing to set up an RMA to fix the problem. Luckily, I discovered the problem myself while talking to him and dropped the case. Bottom line, still a great screen with a terrible UI, but it's nice to know they have ample tech support when needed. I will be as brief and concise as possible. I bought two of these monitors a few weeks ago, the PA278QV 27" WQHD (2560 x 1440) version. My use case is two computers, one connected to the HDMI ports of each, the other to the display port of each is plugged in. Unfortunately, I dismissed the negative feedback about the monitor's awful interface. Switching between inputs is just awful and involves too many steps. I'd live with that, but "automatic switching" is inconsistent, and um To make matters worse, the buttons on these monitors are TOTAL CRASH, they "sleep" or don't turn off properly, so I always had to manually turn them off with the button on the front, one of which is the power switch completely failed as it didn't do anything for the first 2 weeks. I sent this one back and got a replacement. Now the power button on the other monitors is completely out of order. With that they are practically useless to me. The layout of the monitors on my desk and the position of the switch prevent me from getting to the secondary power button, otherwise I would try to disable them that way. Now I have to contact Asus support to get another one replaced as I know the buttons will probably fail on ALL at some point. Trying to save a buck compared to other more reliable brands cost me a lot this time, I will NEVER buy another Asus monitor!
