Review on ASUS PA278QV: Premium DisplayPort Monitor with Anti Glare, Adjustable 2560X1440P Resolution, 75Hz Refresh Rate, Blue Light Filter, Built-In Speakers, and HDMI Support by Matthew Thorndike

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Incredibly sharp images and extremely flexible color settings (27 " WQHD 2560x1440 monitor)

I do a lot of fractal art and photo editing as a hobby and sometimes for sale. My old monitor was a few years old and was turning green and dark, so I went in search of a replacement. In the end I decided on two different models and after a couple of weeks arguing with myself I bought this model. I'm very happy with it so far. (I've had it for 3 days now) One of the things that drew me in about it is that it comes with color calibration for some of the settings from the factory, which was great for me as I don't really understand the intricacies of CYMK's color settings and I don't really understand what the Rec.790 preset is for, but I understand the rest and how customizable most of them are. I set up custom mode 1 for my digital art and my custom mode 2 specifically for my fractal art. I love how the landscape mode really brings my outdoor photography to life, as well as the ease of toning down the blue light emission and such. Considering I spent a lot of time every day trying to get the best possible colors on an old monitor with an Nvidia controller, it's like a new lease of life not having to worry about it. :) Another thing I LOVE is the ability to sync settings to a running app without having to worry about it. The sync app works great. I have settings for Photoshop and Lightroom, Topaz Studio and so on. I have other apps like Chrome, Office and create with apps like Inkscape. Then there's the stand. It's very well built and this time I can adjust my monitor to the perfect height for me. I'm not tall and most other monitors I've had have eye level below. It actually falls to the perfect height for me. Yes! Overall, for my use, this monitor more than lives up to the bill. Now I need to explore the rest of the settings a bit, but that's another time. At the moment I'm just enjoying seeing all the details in the photos of my two very black cats. This is not an easy task. Luckily, my camera can handle this pretty well, but until now I had no idea how it's possible. Just wow!
