Review on ๐Ÿฅ‹ Hayabusa Mirai Shin Guards: Optimized Series by Niranjan Reynolds

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent protection against strong touches.

I don't know why people think this is dangerous for sparring. These are heavy duty kickboxing/muay thai pads. The adjustment knob is securely located at the top of the calf, just behind and below the knee. This is a very awkward position to hit or grab and doesn't make any practical sense as a target area. If someone kicks you there, their shin/instep guards should protect them. For sweeping or dropping, the handle is too high to get caught. Even if the handle is pulled, the heavy duty rubber straps and back panel keep the Hayabusa case securely in place. You're far more likely to peel off an opponent's Velcro or slip a loose-fitting elastic shin guard than one of those Mirai shin guards. These protectors block the shins all day long. Very well designed impact protection that does not interfere with movement when kicking and blocking. Another thing people don't understand is no shin pads. You can never wrap that much soft foam around someone's leg to get a triangle choke or mindboard and this is the only time I've seen this grip make contact with someone in an unprotected area. MMA grappling pads are much thinner and more maneuverable. Use the right tool for the job. This is for kickboxing, muay thai or taekwondo. People giving it 1 star because it's impractical or unsafe is like giving a wakeboard a star because you can't ride it.
