After reading other reviews I thought this might help anyone thinking about how to use this filter. I've been using one of these filters for about 22 months now and have probably flushed it about 15 times. Our well water is very dirty so I have a four stage setup where this filter is the first stage, then a 20 micron, then a 5 micron, then a 5 micron carbon filter. It's a reliable workhorse that gets the job done and more than doubles the life of the other filters in the queue. They last about a month with this, without 1-2 weeks. I remove this filter and hose it down every time I change the 20 and 5 micron disposable filters. It's easy to do, I don't use too much pressure, but I gently run water between each of the flaps as I go around them, it takes about 5 minutes. I can't get it back new but just getting what I can seems to work pretty well. Amazingly when I clean this filter housing it is sometimes half full of debris but it still flows well. I don't know how long this will last, but I'm going to buy another one so I don't have to remove, flush, replace, just swap and then flush. One note, it's 50 microns so don't expect it to remove everything, it's more of a pre-filter to remove larger particles and extend the life of the other filters in your system.
