Review on Industrial Grade Articulating Borescope Inspection Camera With 5" IPS Screen And HD 1080P Flexible Cable Snake For Accurate Inspections by Todd Foster

Disappointing camera alignment *UPDATE*

The build quality of these units seems decent. I received the 6.2m version. The articulating motion is as described. Very cool! Only problem is with the unit I received, the alignment of the camera element at the end of the probe is off by 45 degrees. This means that when you move the camera through its 180 degree movement, the motion on the screen moves at a 45 degree angle. And there's no way to fix other than return and try with a different unit. Which I did, and the replacement is off by 30 degrees in the other direction. I consider this to be a flaw for a 180 degree articulating camera! The reason is, what format is the screen? LANDSCAPE. In what orientation do you hold the screen LANDSCAPE. This means in my mind the camera motion should be consistent with the orientation of the screen in order to have the correct spatial orientation as you move through your subject (wall, engine, or whatever). It's very disorienting when you move the camera, and the picture moves at an angle. Plus, if the camera was mounted in the same orientation as the screen, you would get the full landscape real estate of the screen when the camera moves side-to-side. Otherwise, the view gets cut down with the camera mounted at an angle, which defeats the purpose! The seller is responsive which is great. However, they do not seem to want to acknowledge this as an issue.*UPDATE*I bought the 8mm version from the Teslong store. The lens on that unit is aligned properly with the articulation of the snake! It's 8mm vs 6.2mm, so a little bigger, but that one is semi-rigid where this 6.2mm version doesn't hold its shape at all. I'm very happy with the 8mm version. This is just FYI.
