This razor is the best

I have two Timeless .95, RR .84, Rockwell 6S and Karve with blades from A to G. You know which razor I reach for every day? Mercure progress. I've had this razor for 4 years, used it a few times when it was new, then put it away and then went down the rabbit hole chasing "Grail" razors. After spending a fortune on everything new and dozens of vintages, I revisited Progress a few months ago, only this time I loaded up a fresh Astra SP and had one of the best shaving experiences ever. Why? It's easy to get a "good" shave, but for a daily razor like me, it needs to have a unique combination of smoothness, forgiveness, and efficiency. Most razors have one or two of these features, but few have them all. progress does. Smoothness: A razor's ability (in combination with the blade used) to feel pleasant to the touch. It doesn't hurt". You won't get a feeling of tension or roughness. It simply cuts the stubble with minimal effort. After shaving, irritation and discomfort are completely absent. Forgiveness: The ability of a razor and blade to eliminate minor imperfections in the Technology to tolerate Relentless razors punish small missteps with cuts and tears Progress bears no relation to its effectiveness (more efficient razors tend to be less gentle) Efficiency: The characteristics of the razor and the blade used, combined with the opening of the blade and of exposure to effectively cut stubble close to the skin in the first few strokes Inefficient razors require more "work" to achieve a close shave, often resulting in users stroking the same area more times than necessary, which causes irritation. An efficient razor minimizes this effect. I usually reload one e blade (I recommend the Astra SP) and set the progress to the minimum value (the knob is turned fully clockwise). I don't see any need to increase the spacing between the blades at all. I use the blades for two or three two pass shaves (plus touch up) and the result is just great, great result. Tight, smooth and strong. Don't overstress the blades; They're cheap enough and you deserve the best the blade has to offer, which in most cases is the first 2 or 3 uses when it's at its sharpest. Of course, if you are a new user of DE shaving systems, you will spend some time developing a good technique, especially if you come from terrible Gazillian blade cartridge systems. Take your time, get to know your face, use quality soaps, brushes and aftershave, and you'll experience the pleasure of shaving, not the chore of shaving. Happy shaving :)
