Surprisingly good! Best Safety Razor

So I tried just about every known DE razor and looked for something "better" than the RazoRock Game Changer .68. This includes several customizations like Gillette Fat Boy/Slim/Super, Rockwell, Rex Ambassador etc. They all let me down. I decided to try it on a whim. I know it's "just" a zamak (pot metal) razor, but I'll be damned if there isn't a great shave. When I first tried it, I loaded the Feather blade and started with a setting of 1.5. At first it seemed like he was about to rip my face…

Finally a great shave

Adjustable razor is simply the best choice for me. I don't believe this nonsense that these razors are dangerous for beginners. Here are the simple facts: (1) Depending on how you set them up, they shave much closer than modern multi-blade razors. (2) Blades for them are pennies compared to what it costs to buy replacement blades for high-tech razors. (3) If you are new to blade shaving, just start with a little exposure until you are comfortable. You can cut yourself with any razor if you're…

Great shaver! suitable for shaving and hair removal

Excellent razor! I've had a long handle and custom "merge" for years, but I wanted a short handle. The balance is good I'd say it's more about the head which I prefer and that's not an issue unless you compare the progression I've gotten after the 'shape change/tool work' you've got made it a few years ago so the alignment triangle is different and doesn't fit between + and 1 like my other two (before changing the razor). Mine is further between 5 and +. So I have to subtract 1 from my old…

Good but not my favorite

I started shaving DE with a Merkur 34C in college in the 70's; I still own it and it still shaves and looks like new. I can't count the number of blades that have gone through this razor! I also have Futur, 23C and 34G. I've always wondered about this weird razor with a plastic handle on the bottom, ended up breaking it and ordered it. I almost always use King of Shaves to shave and have been for 20 years. At its lowest setting, this razor cut through my beard like a future. I don't have a…

Solid construction but needs some work

I bought this razor because I was tired of throwing all the plastic from disposables. I basically love it. It fits my hand well, although I wish the handle was 1/2 inch longer. It works as advertised and is easy to use. I have just one comment. It has a scale/bezel on the bottom of the handle. to guide the adjustable exposure of the blade. However, there is no fixed "stop" and you just have to guess where to place it. The (very minimal) instructions warn against twisting it "too tight," but…

Recommended, safe enough for beginners. Wet razor

Never shaved with safety razor until last month. I got fed up with paying ridiculous prices and started looking for what to do. This shaver was recommended to me from the start and I'm glad I chose it. I now only pay $5 a month to shave and think it's great to shave this way. be very careful Thing is sharp. You can't hurry or you'll bleed. I had to learn the importance of following each step to achieve the perfect shave. They only cut me once and that was because I was careless. I would…

Great upgrade: Men's

As a longtime 34c user, I didn't expect much from a shaver that only offered additional adjustment options. But as you can imagine, I was wrong. The Razor seems a lot less prone to "bite" as you know 34c can on the third pass. The advance seems to bend the blade a bit more and this makes the blade more secure. I started with one and quickly found it wasn't enough, upped it to 2 and the feel and sound was just right. I tried the 2.5 and it could actually cut but it seemed like I felt the blade a

This razor is the best

I have two Timeless .95, RR .84, Rockwell 6S and Karve with blades from A to G. You know which razor I reach for every day? Mercure progress. I've had this razor for 4 years, used it a few times when it was new, then put it away and then went down the rabbit hole chasing "Grail" razors. After spending a fortune on everything new and dozens of vintages, I revisited Progress a few months ago, only this time I loaded up a fresh Astra SP and had one of the best shaving experiences ever. Why? It's…
