Review on Enhance Suspension Performance with MOOG K80591 Ball Joint - Trusted Quality by Richard Carroll

Moog or not Moog

I bought these lower ball joints (and matching tops) for my 2001 Xterra SE. They were easy to install, but I was surprised that they came pre-packaged (no Zerk). The top had mirrors for lubrication. At the same time, I swapped out the control levers. Leveled the SUV and all was well for about three weeks. A loud creak was heard and determined to be coming from the front. I consulted with a certified mechanic and other reputable sources and it was ultimately determined that the lower ball joints were the culprit. I bought a grease gun nozzle, pierced the rubber booty and injected an ounce. or so fat in each and that fixed the problem. This vehicle will be used off-road (mud, water, etc.) so a damaged rubber boot is not acceptable. I've swapped the bottom ones. Avoid this particular part unless you want to spend an extra $1,500 on mechanic and alignment fees. Thanks Moog for your "pre-oiled" headache. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
