I love this paint. in Paint, Wall Treatments & Supplies

We've made our shutters from XPS foam, which itself is too flammable to be safe. Of all the FR color options, Contego was the only one I found that allows you to use a topcoat of something else over their color. In fact, they recommend it. Also, the price is good compared to others. We used acid brushes for small details but sponged all over. It is viscous, so the word "spread" was chosen deliberately. All painting was done in a room we reserved for this purpose, which we heated to 75+ F and kept the initial humidity in the 30's. So it dries very quickly. Two shifts a day, or in our case one shift on each side of the shutter. We solved the problem of the short shelf life after opening by using a funnel for immediate decanting into 1 liter plastic milk bottles with a tight-fitting screw cap. Use five bottles to leave room to shake later. This stuff is thick! So we started by pulling right out of the lid and the bucket it fell into before using the bottle. Otherwise this color will be wasted. That said, don't open it until you're ready to paint, or you'll lose what's stuck to the bucket. It took four coats to reach the (roughly) recommended Contego thickness. The later layers use significantly more paint than the first. I assume he's fine. These blinds touch each other and other things, so the usual stickiness of latex paint bothers me. The sticking is much less than I expected, but not zero. We will still cover with water based polyurethane. Cons: Contego should post more sensible retention policies for this material at least a few months after opening. I originally bought the 1 gallon size which doesn't seem to be available. more. This further complicates the memory problem.
