My husband and I have had great success with this training collar. We started with a shock setting of 1 to 3 for our 2 year old poodle pup who will bark at just about anything including passersby, fireflies, airplanes and loud background noises in the distance. I like having a remote control to activate it when needed. We've only had to use the shock button (along with the no bark command) sporadically for less than 2 weeks as it has already shown amazing improvement with less and less barking. Now we only use vibration when needed and that's enough to stop him when he starts barking. I also like the sound that can be used when not listening to my other commands. I like the presence of all options (gentle shock, vibration and sound). Be sure to read all instructions on how to properly place the collar around your dog's neck for a proper fit. Update this on our two dogs now and most of the times they stop if I just pick up the remote and show them. In fact, sometimes when I don't have a remote nearby, I just grab the ceiling fan remote and they immediately stop their momentary misbehavior! We have also taken them on car trips and now they are so well behaved in the car that we don't really need them.
