Newbies and those of you with no technical background, don't be afraid of this router! Creepy comments from IT pros and nerds are outdated. Mikrotik has added pre-configured profiles so any home user can connect this router in less than 5 minutes! I've installed many routers in my time and this is the easiest thing I've ever done. This RB951 is just amazing for the price. This is a commercial quality that has all the features of a $1000+ router. I bought it for use in an out of state rental property because I don't want to deal with unreliable consumer junk and complain about tenant wifi outages. I need something reliable and I need to be able to securely manage my router remotely. The best news is that this is the easiest router I've ever installed! The average home user can set up the RB951 in 3 minutes! The RB951 comes with several preset configurations for you to choose from. Most people will use a "home hotspot" or "WISP hotspot" for slightly more advanced functions and office applications. After setting up a home hotspot, my messaging programs, Skype and VOIP phone pass NAT and firewall with no problems in the standard configuration. There was no need to set up port forwarding or bother with it. Home users, follow these simple instructions and you'll be on the air in minutes: mikrotik-academy.com/tutorials/setare-configurare-mikrotik/Video Streamers and Gamers: This is a REAL router with real performance and a very mature operating system. You don't need a dual-band 2/5GHz router for video streaming, but if you need higher WiFi speeds for your LAN, Mikrotik will do the trick if you really want to spend the money. What you need is a router that can deliver an excellent signal and has a mechanism to handle multiple high-bandwidth streams simultaneously. Most consumer junk can't do this without dual bands running simultaneously, but MIkrotik can. I was running multiple HD video streams from different sources on the same i3 machine until I hit my ISP's bandwidth limit. All worked smoothly and simultaneously, without stuttering and buffering. The RB951 is a workhorse and comes in a package so small, you won't believe how much muscle you can fit inside. The signal strength is fantastic. Good product. I may never use another brand again.
