Haven't used regular coolant flushes and changes with new thermostat and it's purring again. This kit is designed for very heavy use and unless you have added a coolant filter and changed it regularly then this is the first flush you will want to do. It probably doesn't hurt to pour about a cup of Fleetguard Repair before applying and leave it on for about 30 minutes before rinsing it off again. Do not leave restorer in the system for more than 3 hours, it is mainly a water soluble lye. Be sure to rinse well for at least 30 minutes. Be sure to drain and refill distilled water at least 4 times and check the pH of the pure water. It should match the sample from your distilled water source. I didn't drain the block, I checked on the driver's side, almost no dirt came out. I have had a coolant filter for 5 years and every year I have changed 3.5 gallons from the radiator. My block is clean. PS don't leave it on or you will at least burn your EGR cooler after flushing. Remove it and block the flow from the oil cooler to the EGR cooler so you can flush the oil cooler
