The one we bought was defective. When we plugged it in, the plug exploded - along with a huge short circuit spark that could have ignited something. It was a wiring error because when we replaced the chain (it came with it) and tried again, the same thing happened. One of the reasons people have abandoned these types of candles is the potential fire hazard. This candolier supported the general unrest. It's a pity really, because I really like these lanterns and wanted to make them the whole house. After the fireworks, however, we returned them all. Maybe they'll come out with an LED kit that doesn't pose a fire hazard.
