Like many studio owners, I have a basket of "suspect" cables that may or may not eventually fail - if the connection is weird at sound check I do unplug the cable and replace it with a new one, intending to test and fix suspect ones one day. So I finally made it. I checked most of my stereo cables and some XLR cables had an open circuit - this tool comes in handy because it tells you exactly which pin is open. After an hour of soldering, all my cables are trustworthy and back in action. I'm going to keep this guy backstage to come out and test the wire bundle twice a year. It feels like it's going to last forever thanks to its sturdy metal construction and a secure button to select the type of cable under test. I love it!
