Failed to load media. I am a beginner in candle making, I make candles for myself not for sale. After seeing wooden wicks I decided I liked the way they looked and wanted to give it a try. Overall, I'm incredibly happy with this purchase. The wooden wicks look beautiful and give my candles a rustic yet sophisticated look. After my first test, I'm curious to see how it looks in different containers. I would highly recommend them to anyone. For these candles I used soy wax for containers along with wooden wicks. I used about a third of a wooden stick. These were easily trimmed with toenail scissors to trim the ends, but I find sturdy kitchen scissors would work just as well. After trimming to the correct height, I placed the wick in the wick holder and secured it to the bottom of the container with some glue. Many candle makers have reported difficulty lighting and burning the wicks. A proposed solution to this problem was to soak the wick in oil, e.g. B. vegetable oil to soak. I decided to test with a plain wick in one candle and an oil soaked wick in another. So far there has been no difference in lighting or burn time between them. The short video is about two hours long. The candle on the left is an oil treated wick, on the right an unfinished wick. The only possible problem I see is that they don't crack. It's ok, I prefer a quiet burn, but those who need sound might be disappointed.
