My original OEM charger for Surface Pro 3 broke. The cable from the adapter is broken and kinked and I swear I'm very careful with my cables. I'm an AV engineer, so I know how to coil cables, but I don't know. I think my charger was just weak. The original charger is annoying because there are 2 of them, so to speak. Cable to surface, Ad/DC unit and cable to outlet. The old charger was a hassle to pack into a backpack, and it doesn't look like there's a proper way to coil up the cord. This new charger is much more compact and travel-friendly. From what I can see it charges faster than my old OEM charger. I just got it so can't comment on durability but I hope it will last. Worth buying just because of the compact design.
