The mechanics of having a rubber element to grip the jar lid is fine, but that piece of rubber is tiny and doesn't feel strong enough or secure enough to grip; I can easily imagine how it will break or just pop out rendering the device virtually unusable. The wedge design isn't ideal for most either, as it forces your hand to open and close almost as far as the cap you're trying to remove. Last but not least, and worst of all, the opening isn't wide enough, even for large jars, so it won't even work unless you're trying to open a bottle or small jar.
