Received these today to replace some I have had for over 10 years. Opened it up and put in the batteries from the kit. They seem to be quite well made and the 9 volt battery is perfect for that. are they loud Well, if you stand next to them, they're loud. Put them in a bathroom or kitchen cabinet and they'll be loud enough to hear you when you're in that room. You may or may not hear them when you are in another room. They really aren't any louder than the 10 year old ones I replaced. They actually work as advertised as they only require a little moisture to activate. From my experience with my old ones that look the same inside you will need to replace the battery every year as that is their lifespan. For the price they are a good buy. If you want really loud, then you have to spend a lot more money.
