Good but not fantastic.

Received these today to replace some I have had for over 10 years. Opened it up and put in the batteries from the kit. They seem to be quite well made and the 9 volt battery is perfect for that. are they loud Well, if you stand next to them, they're loud. Put them in a bathroom or kitchen cabinet and they'll be loud enough to hear you when you're in that room. You may or may not hear them when you are in another room. They really aren't any louder than the 10 year old ones I replaced. Theyโ€ฆ

Save my kitchen sink cabinet from costly damage.

I bought these when I moved into my new house 7 years ago. Today it paid off. The appliance mechanic came to look at my dishwasher. When disconnected and reconnected, it appears to have connected the water supply incorrectly. We went out for a few hours and when we got home our trusty little water detector was yelling at us. We had a leak under the kitchen sink. Had this gone unnoticed, we would have damaged the bottom of our kitchen sink. This product is worth every penny. A few years ago heโ€ฆ

Cheap, with batteries, easy to install, not 95dB

They are simple and cheap. Basically, it's a pair of wires wrapped around an edge of the device and running to the base. If water (or your fingers) touches both wires, an alarm will go off to let you know the detector is wet. a half-foot barrier that will likely block all but the loudest sounds. Tested by placing them in a dry, clogged sink and running a trickle of water until the alarm sounds. Unfortunately, these baddies barely get above 80dB (according to my sound meter) when standing rightโ€ฆ

An easily correctable design flaw significantly reduces the volume of the alarm clock.

Some other reviewers complained that the alarm clock wasn't loud enough. The device is rated at 95 dB, but that rating probably only applies to the sound generator inside the device. The top cover significantly reduces the actual noise level of the case. The reason can be seen in the photo on the Revain product page. The membrane of the internal alarm tone generator, which vibrates to produce a high-pitched tone, is partially covered by a small round piece of plastic held in place by four tabsโ€ฆ

Efficient, easy on the eye, low battery alert and can be changed if needed - 1.5 year update

I like the gray color for general use. White or black may be better for your specific application. All 8 batteries were fully charged upon arrival, the devices were well packed and showed no signs of damage. These leak detectors draw about 53 microamps in normal standby mode. The Rayovac AL9V-6 Ultra Pro Alkaline 9V battery should last around 1.5 years at this rate. I cleaned the PCB flux with 91% alcohol to reduce power consumption but it didn't work. It has a low voltage warning that willโ€ฆ
