Some other reviewers complained that the alarm clock wasn't loud enough. The device is rated at 95 dB, but that rating probably only applies to the sound generator inside the device. The top cover significantly reduces the actual noise level of the case. The reason can be seen in the photo on the Revain product page. The membrane of the internal alarm tone generator, which vibrates to produce a high-pitched tone, is partially covered by a small round piece of plastic held in place by four tabs when the top cover is in place. The top cover should have a clean hole at least as large as the diaphragm of the sound generator located directly below. The current design closes the center of the sound generator diaphragm and greatly attenuates the sound energy. In addition, an LED is installed above the sound generator, which signals a weak battery. The LED is probably too small to affect noise levels, but the LED is also obscured when the top case is in place, making it difficult to see when flashing. There are two simple solutions. The first is to simply not install the top. Affairs. This reveals the internals and battery, but if the unit is under a sink cabinet it's still not visible until the cabinet is opened. Another solution is to remove the obstruction at the top of the hull. To do this, remove the top and turn it onto a piece of wood. Using a small chisel or screwdriver and a hammer, cut off all four tabs holding the round obstruction in place and pry it from the top of the case. There's now a large, clear opening that lets you hear the full power of the sound generator from a much greater distance.
