I am a retired carpenter used to using very large woodworking machines including band saws. But since I'm short on space at home, I ordered a Grizzly 9" band saw - as always, a ready-to-use tool for quick and easy cutting on small jobs. As a realist, I really wasn't expecting too much. :0). The saw came with a 1/4" saw blade installed and even with realistic expectations I was more than a little disappointed as the Grizzly 9" bandsaw will cut through harder 3/4" wood with the standard blade even with the correct adjustment fought. Olson's 3/8" saw blade Saw blade is a HUGE improvement over the standard blade on this little saw. It transformed a frustrating, almost unusable saw into a real and handy little saw that's great for quick general purpose cuts. Professional grade woodworking band saws and small 9" hobby saws. I know that, but the blade makes a difference in a hobby saw's usefulness. Depending on what and how you're cutting - anything over 1/2" - in any For a quick cut I would choose an Olson 3/8 inch blade.
