I work in the pipe shop and I work in poorly lit areas all the time. I bought this level because of its luminosity. The level worked great. Well lit, easy to read. My issue is that when I accidentally dropped it from waist height, the plastic battery cover ripped, preventing the batteries from staying in place. I gave this low rating because I am disappointed with the cheap design from a very reputable tool maker, especially at this price point for a torpedo level.
