They are very convenient and well designed, with holes for embroidery thread or floss and a good place to add a symbol, letter or number for that colour. I'm not sure if it's a lot. Improvements compared to the punched index card. And for larger or more complex projects, especially those that mix yarn colors in one stitch, there are ALMOST enough holes for each mix to have its own! A needle magnet is a nice idea, but as someone who lives with cats I need to make sure the needles are a lot safer. The same applies if you have small children. However functional if for some reason the do-it-yourself approach just isn't intended!
