The head of the screw is pressed into the wood for a good flush installation

Forget about lagging screws and double drilling in decking. No pilot holes are required as it will gnaw through the wood without splitting it. I used 8 inch lengths to block and attach the railing to my deck. The head of the screw is pressed into the wood to ensure a good flush.
