Good trainer for beginners

I am a runner. I run marathons and walk many kilometers every week. 4 years ago I started doing triathlons occasionally to train for marathons so I bought a road bike. I ended up breaking down and renting a bus because my city doesn't have the safe infrastructure to make long, uninterrupted trips on a regular basis. I'm not a seasoned bike club veteran and this is my first trainer. So let that information guide the context of this review. I found setup much easier than others have described. I have an average mechanics/tool feel and got it up and running in 30 minutes. The bike attaches directly to it with the included spoke. It also folds up very compactly for storage. The sound doesn't hurt your ears (I'd call it quiet, there's nothing quite like it) but more of a relaxing white noise when you get a steady pedal hit. The included riser is a nice addition. With more intense exertion, the grip shifts a bit, which is confusing at the moment, but without any catastrophic falls. I just moved a little. I put the whole setup on a yoga mat (for sweat and stability) and the problem was solved. The legs are too wide to fit a regular yoga mat, but the heavy base sits nicely on it. The only thing that bothers me is the resistance. If you have ANY level of lower body/cardio fitness while road biking, you will quickly outgrow and/or be too strong for this machine. Last night I rode 90 minutes at 90 rpm in my top gear. There's no way to adjust the resistance, so I'll stick with a lathe and not something that stresses my muscles. As an amateur-level road cyclist, I might not use it for its intended purpose, but I was hoping for a machine that would give me jelly-like legs. At best, I would describe this machine as enhanced active recovery after difficult workouts.
