I bought this for my son and his fiancee and they will be using it mainly for smoothies. He is very impressed with the weight and quality of the glass jug and the overall quality of the machine. It LOVES that it's not plastic, it's super easy to clean and the blender mechanism feels "smart". He said that when his smoothie ingredients got too thick, the blender would buzz for a few seconds and then slow down and stop instead of burning out trying to blend it. He added liquids and started again and he blended the smoothie perfectly. He said it's loud but no louder than other blenders he's used. In general he is very satisfied. I'll update this review if anything changes (and if the chopper disappoints), but for now it's recommended!
