UPDATE: 2-4-14UPS came to pick up the 2nd damaged one while I was at work. Of course they can't arrange a meeting with me (they can pick up companies), but they tell me that the route of the drivers doesn't change much, so they have to be there at the same time on Tuesday around 2:30 p.m. (today). So I leave work at noon to make sure I'll be there when they pick up the broken shipment. Do you think they arrived around 2:30pm? NO. Actually, Revane calls me around 4:00 p.m. My order is CANCELLED. UPS noticed the item was damaged when it was loaded onto a delivery truck. (At least now they know!) So I have no choice but to take a refund. Revain has been very direct and open with me so far. You must check stock availability. So if you look at this page today, you will see that the item is flagged and cannot be ordered through Revain until the review is complete. (TODAY 2-4-14) Revain also said they would call me directly when the issue was resolved (the rep called me to let me know directly about the shipping issue rather than having autotext tell me that my order was cancelled) and notify me The item is ready to ship and is in stock. She also told me that if it went up in the next month or so, they would work with me on the price. hope it's true I hope to get it at the current price of $239 with Revain Prime shipping. I feel like this is the least they can do as I have been sent 3 defective/damaged items, I took a leave of absence from work to go home and make sure my item was returned as per their instructions . I've also emailed them detailed photos (which I can't post here) showing the damage and how they mis-sent it. Let's not forget the annoyance, headache and anger because I didn't get what I wanted when promised and in usable/new condition. Around 5:15 p.m., the UPS finally comes and picks up the damaged terrarium. They were very apologetic and professional. I also explained to him what was wrong with the item upon delivery in case they sent another later. Now I'm waiting. UPDATE: 2-3-14 Another delivery delay, this time they are shipping to the wrong warehouse next to mine. UPDATE: 2/14/2014 I received another email last night saying my order should be delivered today (Saturday) as promised. The order was delivered around 10:30 am while I was out. The second package was labeled "THIS SIDE UP" and "Handle with Care." Unfortunately there were labels on ALL sides so how could anyone tell what it really was? The answer is simple. THEY ARE NOT HERE The second arrived damaged and broken. I opened it up to take a look and what I saw says a lot. I don't think the problem is with the boxes or the little foam pads used to protect the inner box from the outer. I think the problem is that they ship these items HORIZONTALLY and not VERTICALLY. It is a TALL cage with two long glass doors. It is these doors that come out of the frame. The outer glass "skin" appears to be entirely intact, but the doors have broken off. The left door was unhinged and dangled into the terrarium. The right door was more weathered and not only fell off its hinges but also shattered into several large pieces of glass. The frame and hinges on the main body were worn but not broken. This tells me that in my case since they sent it to the side the doors may crack during transit. As mentioned by others, the hinges are plastic and not heavy duty. (But probably suitable for the intended purpose) During transport, the doors bounce on bumps when handling and the like. I think the solution is a simple solution. ENSURE the terrariums are shipped in the correct position, VERTICAL in this case, and place a styrofoam or other barrier INSIDE the terrarium to support the glass doors so minor bumps and the like don't damage the hinges fail prematurely. DO YOU LISTEN TO AMAZON? How about you EXO TERRA? (The outer box on the second one appears to be the same as the first, on closer inspection (it was during the day) the outer box is ALSO from Exo Terra and had model information etc. It looks like Exo Terra is sending them to the Amazon warehouse Finally the first was delivered via UPS, the second via FED EX UPDATE: 1-31-14 I just got a text message from Revain saying "Your package with with the carrier for an updated delivery date. EDIT: I don't know why but I can't upload pictures to post my experience of having this item shipped with UPS for others to read before trying to buy and how UPS handled it for me today Delivered last night and I've been waiting for it. The box was mixed and trucked and taken to my open garage. Having read the reviews before ordering, I didn't want to just let it go without opening the Item. The outer box was a little wrinkled but intact. The inner box was fine in p. The UPS man put the item on its side (it has heavy glass doors that might break/probably jump on its side during shipping). You could hear the glass rolling in the inner box. I didn't open it further as it was definitely broken. I refused the package and the driver hauled it back into the truck. Within the next hour I received two messages from Revain, one saying my package was refused and the other about 20 minutes later saying the package was already on its way back to Revain. Wow. It was fast. Having never turned down a load of Revain (I couldn't carry it myself and return it to return it), I didn't know what to do. I've had a heck of a lot of time to contact Revane. I would have thought it easier. Maybe it was just me, but searches and links lead to places that don't answer my questions or simply allow me to print a return label. I had several errands and when I got back (after 1.5 hours) I finally received them. Of course you need to link a contact link and go to where you put your phone number to call back or start a chat or email. I entered my number and was called within 10 seconds. I was connected almost immediately to a live person who spoke clear English! My customer service rep's name was Sharon. (Hope I can use her name because it was GREAT and well deserved!) Within minutes she confirmed my order was on its way back via UPS and arranged for a replacement to be shipped (and packaged) with priority. better and appropriately marked. I received an email from her with an order number and other information while I was still online. She listened to everything I said and was very apologetic. She did me right. I'm expecting my package on Saturday (I missed the 5pm delivery deadline which I would have gotten if it hadn't been so late) and I hope everything goes well. I posted a photo of the delivery to my home. by Revain. I believe some of the blame should be on them for such poor packaging of what appeared to be a delicate item with no FRAGILE tags or "THIS SIDE UP" tags. The path is marked as fragile. I will also use UPS in the mix if what I feel is not being transported properly. (on the other hand) FYI if this happens and you wait too long the option to rate the package will be removed.
