I bought this to use with the new 4th gen iPad Air and really wanted to like it. But the cool, flat, flush design just isn't practical. Maybe that's normal for a laptop, but not for a tablet. It cannot be used when your iPad is in a case or case; You either have to remove the lid or do something tricky with the Xacto knife. And once connected, the connection is not secure; the lightest pressure will dislodge it. The device came with a handy-looking extension handle that could be attached with a couple of intimidatingly tiny screws (kudos to the manufacturer for adding a tiny screwdriver and extra screws), which would solve the problem. if it doesn't break right away. (See photo at right. The connector tab came loose and stayed in the iPad on the first try.) If I can get a replacement extender, I might try again; otherwise it seemed well made and executed as advertised; but shit. My advice? If you're buying this for an iPad, don't worry about the flush-mount model, get the model with a built-in extension cable.
