Review on WayinTop NRF24L01+PA+LNA RF Transceiver Module with SMA Antenna - 2.4 GHz 1100m Range - Arduino Compatible by Jesse Wells
Didn't work with adapters.
Initially I connected them to 2 Arduino Nano boards with breakout adapters: they didn't work. After making sure they were connected properly, I removed the adapters and connected the nrf24l01 to the nanos: after that they worked great. So breakout adapters are useless.
