This is a great material. I use it on air compressors and gas pressure washers and it seals perfectly every time. Now I'm almost done with the teflon tape. Not that the tape is bad, but sometimes I put it on and still have to fiddle with the connection before the leak stops. With Oatey, you apply it and tighten the connection for a proper mechanical connection. If there is no casting defect or crack at this point, you have a perfect seal. Because there is Teflon in the connection, there is so little friction when tightening the fittings that you will feel a sudden increase in resistance as you reach the full depth of the thread. A small disadvantage of this connection is that it can get dirty. It's an opaque off-white color and likes to seep through everywhere. It will show up on anything you wear it on. Don't wear Sunday clothes when working with this material. Luckily it doesn't dry out, so you can just wipe it off your work with a dry rag and you're good to go. I'm not sure how well it washes out of clothes, but I'm considering forgetting about it. There is also someone at the Oatey factory whose job it is to knead the cap brushes on all of their products so the bristles stick out. in all directions? If so, then that person is really at work. No problem, it's been like this for years. Did I mention I like it? I do!
