This is a good quality area rug, the pile is good and dense enough that there is no sign of the backing. I've used a carpet pad under the rug. It comes without a rubber backing which is actually preferred. The carpet pad is a good idea, order one because on carpet or wood floor this will slip. You could use tap but I find that more difficult to deal with when you wish to move the rug or use on wood or carpet, it's just not ideal. If you like the images and look of the rug pattern in the photos, you'll be happy with the rug. The price is competitive for the size and quality of this carpet/area rug.
